What is Orifice Flange

An Orifice Flange is a special flange used to install an orifice plate in a pipeline for flow measurement. The orifice plate creates a pressure difference between the upstream and downstream sides, and the pressure taps on the flange allow instruments to measure this differential pressure.

Compared with standard pipe flanges, orifice flanges include machined pressure tap holes and usually use jack screws to help separate the flange pair during inspection or replacement of the orifice plate.

Orifice flanges are commonly supplied as a pair and used with gaskets, bolts, nuts, orifice plates, and flow measurement instruments.
